15 years later the food is still the best in fort Collins. Minnesota needs one!!! Sesame beef and combo fried rice. Just do it!!! So amazing.

I LOVE HUNAN. Those of you who say it's bland should probably start off with changing what you order. Beef and broccoli? It's self explanatory. It's literally beef and broccoli with a light brown sauce. Maybe try something a little different like Szechuan or the Garlic chicken, anything that contains tons of flavors. Their spicy sour soup is the best I've ever had, and trust me, I've had a lot. Also, think the manager is rude? I absolutely love George. He grew up in a different country, so obviously communication with him will be a little different. He's direct, but that restaurant is his baby. He will do anything to make you leave satisfied. If you like restaurants where they treat you like family, Hunan is the place. Just ASK if you have any special requests or want to try something good. The servers will help you as much as YOU will let them.

I'm not a big fan of Chinese food and a wuss when it comes to spice so I always get the lemon chicken, fried rice, egg drop soup and crab rangoons. Always yummy and the last couple times I've called in my order to go and it was ready in ten minutes before I could even get there!

Absolutely love love love this place! I think a lot of people order dishes that don't quite work with their tastes and may be disappointing but there are a ton of different options and if you ask the owner (George) or any of the staff they are always more than willing to help you find an entree to fit your needs. I would personally recommend anything is the garlic sauce which is sweet, tangy and spicy with a wonderful mix of veggies including water chessnuts, mushroom, celery, carrot and green onion. Don't like sweet? How about the Szechuans, spicy brown sauce, carrot, celery and green onion...heavenly. As great as those dishes are my favorite it #13 crispy duck...If you love duck like I do then oh my goodness this is your dish. A very generous portion of boneless duck breast that has been marinated and then fried, placed on a bed of cabbage with hoisen sauce on the side, request a couple moo shoo pancakes wrap the succulent duck in it top with hoisen and I swear you won't regret it. Now if you give Hunan a try and like hot and sour, you must try theirs, it is hands down the best hot and sour soup in town. I love Chinese food (especially hot and sour) and don't go a week without eating it and I've tried it just about everywhere in town, Hunans takes the cake even though I live in Old Town with great Chinese food all around I will make the drive to Hunans on any given day to have a bowl of their hot and sour soup.

Chose this restaurant at the suggestion of my in-laws. My favorite soup is usually wonton but NOT here - just the most tasteless soup ever. Spring rolls were also bland.

This is the second time I've eaten here. I'm use to food from New York being flavorful and tasty. The beef and broccoli is soooo bland, greasy and just nasty I actually threw up after I ate it. I will never eat here again.

Decided to give this place a try. Went in, waited 10 minutes to be greeted. After we were greeted they said "Five minutes okay". 20 min later still waiting. We just walked out. Won't be back. If the wait is 20 min then just tell us that upfront. Felt like I was in a Seinfeld episode.

Excellent service & friendly people. Very fast as well! My husband & I ordered different items, but both had the brown sauce. We thought it was very tasty, though hubby put too much hot mustard on so it was very spicy then! Portion size was also good for the price. Much better than going to Panda Express!

I don't want to be mean but their food is some of the nastiest I've tasted. The flavor was disgusting. The only good thing I can say about this place is the service was good.

I was quite disappointed in my meal at Hunan. I had the chicken chow mein, lunch portion. It came with a cup of egg drop soup and I ordered the fried chicken wings to go with it. Now, I'm the first to admit that I love Americanized Chinese food. I'm not sure if this was supposed to be more traditional or what, but it was bland. The egg drop needed salt, but it wasn't loaded with random vegetables, so I overlooked that. The chicken wings were ok, the sauce on them was decent, but again needed salt. The chicken chow mein was just bland. Plus, it came with the crispy noodles on it already. I like breaking up my noodles and putting on how many I want, not picking off noodles because there were too many on there to start with. All in all, it wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better.

A few years ago I would have probably given them a 5 star rating. The quality of their food seems to have really gone downhill. The won ton soup noodles are soggy and the egg rolls taste like the were heated up in a microwave after they had been previously fried. What they seem to consider as 'fried rice' is beyond me. The servers are always very pleasant, the owner is not friendly but is professional. I find myself preferring to pick up dinner at Panda Express on the way home instead, which would never had been true a few years ago. Lunch specials are reasonable, but keep in mind that you do get what you pay for.

Hunan was tasteless and bland Chinese food. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing, but for what we did eat, it was rather gross and repulsive. I would highly suggest picking another option.

Great food and probably my favorite Chinese food joint in Fort Collins. I would recommend it to anyone coming to town!

Don't waste your time with this "restaurant". The waitress was nice, but the owner/manager is the rudest person I've ever encountered at a restaurant. I ordered the vegetable lo mein and it tasted like plain noodle with plain vegetables. There was no flavor whatsoever. You're better off going to panda express.

As a regular at Hunan's for years, I can recommend it as the total package in Chinese dining in Fort Collins--consistently good food, atmosphere and great service. The owners are nice, too. My family and I loved the Princess Chicken (think Kung Pao without the spice and way more addictive).

The best Chinese in Fort Collins, but unfortunately, that's not saying much. To get anything remotely authentic, you have to drive down to Denver. It's standard Chinese-American and not much, if any, better than the take-out joints. However, the lunch is a pretty good deal for sit-down and the service is good.

atmosphere: 3 food: 3 service: 4 well unfortunately this is probably your only major option for chinese in FC... it's very basic American chinese food. Nothing to say really about the food. It's just... well basic. Heck, if it's all the same to you, I'd say skip the dining experience and go to panda. Less money, less time, same greasy satisfaction (though hunan is def less greasy). service is always with a smile. can get busy for lunch one note: the chow mein is not typical chow mein. depends on how you define it i suppose... but a friend and i tried every which way to ask for yellow egg fried chow mein noodles (think birds next with veggies) and all we got were chow fun noodles. Once, they put fried wontons on top... anyways. think basic.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
